Mom says we’ve been too greedy
American Moms believe most Americans are too greedy.
This according to Watertown, Mass.-based Allen & Gerritsen advertising agency. The agency’s survey indicates that most American Moms say the “era of financial overextension is over.”
“For the last few years, there have been a number of cultural trends that demonstrate the idea that Americans deserve to indulge, buying bigger homes and better cars and other luxuries. Most moms believe this culture contributed to the financial crisis we are in,” according to Catherine Kolodij, a vice president at Allen & Gerritsen.
Other survey findings include:
• 80 percent of moms believe that the majority of Americans were encouraged to overextend themselves, while 58 percent believe the average American is too greedy.
• 2 out of 3 moms are ending purchases not absolutely necessary and half are cutting back.
• 71 percent of Moms report they have made more sacrifices this year than last year. They are adapting by changing how they manage their budget, buy food and make financial decisions.
