Axiom Brass

Axiom Brass, a quintet composed of professional brass musicians and educators from across the nation, appear as part of the Distinguished Artists Series at the University of Arkansas- Fort Smith. The concert is a return to the Fort Smith area for the group. Axiom Brass gave its first concert in Fort Smith last May and performed again in June as part of activities during a weeklong Axiom Brass Summer Seminar for college and high school students. Axiom Brass includes Kevin Sanders on the tuba. Sanders taught at the university last year and is currently on leave. The group's performances are a mix of classical masterpieces and jazz, interspersed with witty humor and entertaining knowledge. Joining Axiom Brass is Dr. Rosilee Walker, University of Arkansas-FS artist-in-residence, who will perform Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." The Distinguished Artists Series is offered through the Academy of the Arts, which is an outreach program of the Music Department and administered through the Center for Lifelong Learning. $15.
