Grand Lien at Beaver Lake (Whispers)
Despite news reports implying otherwise, the developers of the 170-acre Grandview Heights condominium project on Beaver Lake – and their lawyers – have protested vigorously that they aren’t having any financial problems.
However, the construction site now sits idle and at least one contractor has a big money beef with New York-based Grandview owners E&S Development and Properties.
Jimmy Jones Excavation Inc. of Berryville recently filed a $477,000 lien against E&S for nonpayment of completed site work.
“It’s been a struggle to get paid since day one,” Jones said. “There’s a song and dance every time we try to get them to pay us.”
Jones’ company pulled out of the project two months ago, the last time activity was seen happening at the site, with more than $1 million worth of work left to do. Jones tells us his company cleared about a mile of county road for the project and most of the land on the site.
Jones said he contacted the company earlier this month after filing the lien, but received, “the same old song and dance.”
