Hill Calls Marshal?s Muesum
Sandi Sanders, the newly tabbed director of the U.S. Marshals Service National Museum in Fort Smith, will have a new office when she returns from Washington, D.C. She hopes to bring some ideas and some funding with her.
Besides meeting with the Arkansas Congressional delegation, Sanders met with Service assistant director Michael Pearson and historian David Turk to discuss the process and timetable for constructing the museum.
Sanders and the delegation from the Chamber of Commerce also visited the International Spies Museum, a for-profit, self-sustaining museum. The business model of the museum was of particular interest since it competes against government-funded museums.
With most funding still lacking, finding ways to encourage repeat visitors with fun and relevant elements may be the most valuable info Sanders brings back to the River Valley.
