Missy Shanklin has announced her resignation as executive director of Pagnozzi Charities in Fayetteville to spend more time with her growing family.
Shanklin spent five years with the company that was founded by former Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals catcher Tom Pagnozzi. She’s married to Matt Shanklin, who is assistant athletic director for marketing and licensing at the University of Arkansas.
Sarah Eldridge, who spent the past year learning the non-profit world as assistant director under Shanklin, will take over as executive director. Her goal is to expand the scholarship program into Benton County for the first time since the charity’s inception.
This year, Pagnozzi Charities has granted 840 sports scholarships to “disadvantaged” youth, who range in age from kindergarten to eighth grade.
“I pretty much want to keep it going the same way Missy had,” said Eldridge, a UA graduate. “I’ve set a goal for myself of 1,150 scholarships next year. Right now, we target Washington County, but we really want to expand into Benton County.”
Scholarships were given for equipment, uniforms, camp registration fees, recreational program fees, monthly instructional classes and tickets to Razorbacks games for families.
