Dillon’s Food Store’s last foothold in Northwest Arkansas is Prairie Grove, but it too may be in its last days.
We hear that Harp’s Food Stores Inc. is buying out the Dillon’s store.
We called Harp’s CEO Roger Collins, but he said he was not able to speak about it.
In the 1960s, Dillon’s operated 11 stores in Northwest Arkansas. Prior to Prairie Grove, the last closing was in July 1998 when the Fayetteville store shut down after 31 years.
Dillon’s is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co. based in Cincinnati. For the 2005 fiscal year, Kroger reported sales of $60.6 million, operating 2,507 supermarkets in 31 states.
Harp’s was founded in Springdale in 1930. It now operates 52 stores in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
