David Alphin, a Realtor with Bassett Mix & Associates in Fayetteville, was presented with the inaugural Realtor Active in Politics Award at the Arkansas Realtors Association’s annual convention in Memphis last month.
“I didn’t have a clue about it, so it was quite a surprise,” Alphin said.
Alphin, a past ARA president, former ARA Realtor of the Year and current member of the trade association’s board of directors, was presented the award for his service to the Arkansas Realtors Association Political Action Committee.
“He knows all the ins and outs of political lobbying,” said ARPAC chairman David Stobaugh in a release. “He doesn’t look for notoriety. In fact, he assumes a financial burden when he works with us.”
Alphin moved to Fayetteville from El Dorado in 2000 and has been active in the ARPAC since 1974.
He was excited about receiving the first award of its kind.
“We go to Washington D.C. every year for our legislative conference and I’ve made that trip for 29 years in a row,” Alphin said. “I’ve just always found the political aspect of our real estate program fascinating.”
