Mama Fu?s Lunch Review (Business Lunch)
Mama Fu’s
700 S.E. Walton Blvd., Suite 12, Bentonville
Mama Fu’s Asian House brings a whole new meaning to the phrase fast food. And it’s no phooey.
The line at the counter moves faster than the “Seinfeld” Soup Nazi’s. The food comes out almost instantaneously, and employees bus the dishes from your table the second you’re done (if not a second sooner). It’s an efficient operation.
And the food is pretty good, too.
Two diners in our group started off with the Thai coconut soup ($2 per cup). It got rave reviews from both of them. The soup contains chopped chicken breast, tomatoes, mushrooms, coconut milk, lemongrass and lime.
For entrees, one diner had the ahi tuna salad ($8), which featured sesame-encrusted “sushi-grade” ahi tuna over spinach, onions, cucumbers and red bell peppers in a “ginger raspberry vinaigrette with ponzu dipping sauce.”
“It was crisp, colorful and flavorful,” she said, “but the tuna was overcooked.”
It wasn’t the bright red color of the tuna in the photo that hung over the counter, and we’re SURE the color in that photo wasn’t enhanced or anything.
Another diner at our table had the teriyaki shrimp ($9) and flat-out raved about it. It contained carrots, cabbage, onions, mushrooms and spinach greens with teriyaki sauce.
“It was a beautiful medley of color,” he said. “The flavors were very well orchestrated. It was the proper amount of sweetness, and the shrimp was cooked to perfection.”
The third diner at our table had the Thai cashew stir fry with shrimp ($9). He thought it was good but not exceptional.
His dish included carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, red bell peppers and cashews with a garlic soy dressing.
Overall, we thought Mama Fu’s provided a pleasant — if slightly noisy — place to have a business lunch.
