Forty Under 40: Randall Hutchinson
Randy Hutchinson, 36, has traveled all over the country, but he couldn’t find any place he’d rather live than Northwest Arkansas. He spent his life in the area, even attending college at University of Arkansas.
Hutchinson graduated a semester early in 1989 with a bachelor’s in business administration and went to work with Shelter Insurance a month later. He worked his way from claims adjuster to senior adjuster and now has his own agency.
In the nine years Hutchinson has been an agent, his agency’s volume has increased each year. He attributes his success to his drive to take care of his customers in their times of greatest need.
He is a past president and committee chairperson of NAIFA, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is also active in his church.
His spare time is spent playing sports or collecting sports cards with his sons. He also has a large collection of golf balls.
Hutchinson would tell anyone interested in getting into the insurance business to talk to other people in the industry and draw on their experience. He said agents should think about themselves less and the customer more.
“If you put the customer first, all the rest of it will fall into place,” he said.
