Being a prosecutor isn’t always fun, but for John Threet the rewards are immeasurable. His biggest case involved getting a conviction for the murder of an 18-month-old baby.n”When things work out and you nail somebody in your own community who needs to get hammered and be off the street, that feels pretty good,” Threet said.nThe son of a preacher, Threet’s family moved often during his childhood, but he lived for a while in Springdale and considers it to be his hometown.nThreet earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ouachita Baptist University in 1987 and a law degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1990. He went to work for the Washington County public defender’s office that year and shifted to the prosecutor’s office in 1993, where he has remained ever since.nThreet, who lives in Fayetteville now, said his office and children’s school are within walking distance from his downtown home. And that sense of community is important to him.nThreet, who is involved in University Baptist Church, said he would eventually like to be the county prosecutor or a judge.nWhen he has spare time, Threet said the family often takes a road trip to Silver Dollar City.
