Taylor Wins Decision

Greg Taylor of Taylor Displays Inc. got his day in court and now awaits another.r

The owner of the now-defunct Springdale display business has been awarded $600,000 by a jury in Washington County Circuit Court. The case now awaits a decision from the Arkansas Court of Appeals, which his lawyer Ken Shemin of Shemin & Hendren said could take another nine months. Donnie Rutledge of the Lisle Law Firm in Springdale served as co-council. Roark Printing Inc. was found guilty of “common law fraud, promissory estoppel and interference with prospective business advantage.” The jury ruled that former employees of Taylor Displays had in fact violated noncompete and confidentiality agreements.r

As a result, the jury found that the employees that left Taylor Displays were working on behalf of Roark and as a result of their departure, Taylor Displays lost a lucrative account with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., thus leading Taylor Displays to sue Roark. The case has dragged on for several years. r

Taylor Displays was headquartered on Shaver Street in Springdale with small offices in Little Rock and in Tulsa. The company had about 45 employees before finally closing its doors last fall.r
