NWACF Awards $95K to Nonprofits

Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation Inc. has awarded $95,750 in grants to ten regional nonprofit organizations. The grants were recommended by the Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary Fund and approved by the directors of NWACF.r

Connie Hendrix-Kral, director of donor relations for NWACF, said the foundation has given more than $2.2 million since 2000, and the auxiliary fund has awarded about $500,000 of that since its inception the same year. r

The auxiliary fund was established as a donor-advised fund in 2000 and supports a variety of nonprofit organizations in Benton and Washington counties.r

Ten grants recently awarded by NWACF include:r

• $20,000 to Community Clinic at St. Francis House for child dental services.
r• $16,750 to Life Styles Inc. for startup costs of an exercise and nutrition program.
r• $12,000 to Ozark Literacy Council to begin healthcare education.
r• $10,000 to Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter for emergency care.
r• $10,000 to Northwest Arkansas for Nurses for a matching grant to develop the Nursing Consortium’s curriculum and operations model.r
• $9,600 to Children’s Safety Fund for the purchase of medical, mental health equipment and advocacy supplies.
r• $5,000 to Rocky Creek Horses Help for sponsorships to assist children with financial need.r
• $2,400 to Community Health and Wellness, the Jones Center for Families for educational materials.
r• $2,000 to Habberton House at Ozark Guidance for Christmas gifts for residents.
