Apartment Viking

Everyone knows former University of Arkansas (1963-65) and Minnesota Vikings (1966-72) football running back Jim Lindsey is a real estate and construction mogul in Fayetteville. r

But the planned addition of another 276 apartments by the now UA trustee and his partner, Roy Stanley, prompted us to think most folks probably don’t realize Lindsey’s multi-unit housing portfolio is more imposing than his former “Purple People Eater” teammates.r

Lindsey Management Co., the Lindsey Cos. arm that manages finished units, had 22,676 total apartments as of mid-November in its portfolio throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. That doesn’t include at least another 492 units Lindsey is building in Texas and the 276 more coming to Fayetteville.r

A breakout of the firm’s local inventory seems even more staggering. Lindsey owns 3,901 existing units in Fayetteville, 1,351 in Rogers, 1,066 in Springdale, 896 in Bentonville, 372 in Lowell and 328 in Siloam Springs. That’s a local total of 7,914, or more than enough apartments for everyone in Lowell where the population is expected to reach 6,998 by 2005.r
