For Bill Enderland and his son Kenny, providing convenience was the main objective in opening Rut and Strut Outdoor Supply. The father-son pair from Madison County have been active outdoorsmen for years and grew tired of driving into the larger cities of Northwest Arkansas for their equipment.

Located in an old hardware store in Elkins, Rut and Strut Outdoor Supply offers sporting, hunting, fishing and camping goods.

“Madison County people appreciate our location and what we have to offer,” Kenny Enderland said.

Opened last January, Rut and Strut is operated and staffed by only father and son. Kenny Enderland had almost 10 years in retail management when he decided to venture on his own with the aide of his father, Bill.

“Being a sportsman myself, I got tired of driving into town for supplies, and that started the idea of the store,” Kenny Enderland said.

Rut and Strut offers popular brands such as Browning, Jennings and Kodiak Outdoors for hunters and Quantum and Abu Garcia for fishermen. The 5,000-SF store also holds an indoor archery range. Those interested can use the 20-yard, two-lane range for $5 an hour.

Content with their current situation, Kenny Enderland said the pair may look to open another location within the next few years.

Rut and Strut was financed locally by Community Bank of Elkins and Simmons First Bank of Springdale.
