Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield has purchased a 93,000-SF building in North Little Rock for $3.4 million, saying it will use the site for its Medicare operations.

ABCBS bought the building and adjoining property at 515 W. Pershing Blvd., formerly the offices for Southwestern Bell.

About 370 employees who work at two ABCBS offices in Little Rock will move to the North Little Rock site by the end of the year after renovations are complete, the company said.

Charlie Clem and Reggie Favors, vice presidents of public programs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, will manage operations there.

“Our Medicare operations have grown tremendously,” Sharon K. Allen, ABCBC’s president and COO, said. “The relocation and centralization will help our Medicare work continue to be done efficiently.”

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the largest health insurer in Arkansas. It has 150,000 clients in Northwest Arkansas alone.
