With more than 23,000 employees in 2003, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville topped the list of the region’s employers.
Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale, the state of Arkansas, O.K. Foods Inc. of Fort Smith and Whirlpool Corp. in Fort Smith round out the top five employers.
