Jeff Martin, 34, grew up in Newport Beach, Calif., and graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1991 with a degree in finance and accounting.
He worked in commercial real estate in Newport Beach for two years and then moved to Bentonville where he worked in commercial lending for a year at what was the Bank of Bentonville.
He attributes the reason for the relocation to his future wife, Wendy.
I didnt have a dime to my name at the time, Martin said.
Martin started his business, Martin Custom Home Builders in 1996 and began building in Benton County. He said that most of his custom home projects are in Washington County now. His business designs an average of 20 homes per year that range from 3,000-6,000 SF and price from $300,000-$1.2 million.
Martin Custom Home Builders was chosen as one of Clear Creek Golf Clubs preferred builders. Martin said the most rewarding thing about his job is seeing that dream come true in someones life.
Martin Custom Home Builders has four employees.
Martin is also active in Builders Home Care, a community service building project.
