Spring Contest Apps Being Accepted
Applications are now available for the Arkansas Venture Capital Conference that will be held March 4-5 at a site yet to be determined.
The second annual event, presented by the Arkansas Venture Forum, will pit blossoming companies in search of venture capital in a competition to make their own case for funding. Companies interested in presenting at the conference must submit their executive summaries by Dec. 5.
Executive summaries must be five pages in length including all tables, graphs, photos and final projections. A minimum type font of 12-point is also required.
A selection committee of venture capitalists will review applications according to criteria available at (800) 216-7237. The criteria weights for selecting the presenting companies were developed by sophisticated investors from around the country and indicate the emphasis investors typically place on various parts of an executive summary.
According to the AVF’s literature, marketing strategy and the quality of the management team are the most heavily weighted elements of the summary. It should therefore highlight the most important points of the business to convince potential investors that it will succeed.
The competition will be weighted as follows:
• 10 percent to the company’s purpose, history and strategy.
• 20 percent to features and benefits of its products
• 30 percent to market and marketing strategy
• 30 percent to management and its history
• 10 percent to the firm’s financial summary
