Bo Mattingly, who was fired this past spring from his job as sports director for television station KHBS/KHOG, Channels 29/40, has been hired as a disc jockey for the “X” radio station, 104.9 FM.

Margot Smith, program director for the “X,” which is owned by Butler Broadcasting Co., said Mattingly began working for the Fayetteville radio station in mid-July. Mattingly is on the air weekdays from 2-6 p.m.

Mattingly replaced Rob Sparks, who left the radio station to concentrate on his mobile DJ business.

Although Mattingly has a background in sports reporting, Smith said, his show is “music intensive” and deals primarily with other types of news.

“He hardly talks about sports on the air,” Smith said.
