We hear John White, chancellor of the University of Arkansas’ Fayetteville campus, won’t need surgery on his leg after a fall Sept. 17 outside a friend’s home.

rWhite apparently tore a tendon, but doctors think it will heal properly in a soft cast with the chancellor on crutches for the next six to eight weeks.

rWhite fell on the stairs outside Sandra Edwards house after a party that night. Edwards is UA associate vice chancellor for development. White was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
