Business Journal Banquet Honors Winners

The region’s outstanding businesses and business leaders were honored at the second annual Northwest Arkansas Business of the Year Awards banquet, held Sept. 28 at the Arkansas Ballroom at the Holiday Inn in Springdale. The event is sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.

About 500 people, many of them representing the 30 finalists in six categories, attended the banquet.

Here are the 2000 winners:

Stitt Energy Systems of Rogers won Category I for

companies with 1-25 employees.

A.G. Russell Knives of Springdale won

Category II for companies with 26-75 employees.

Arvest McIroy Bank of Fayetteville won Category III for companies with 76-300 employees.

Downtown/Dickson Enhancement Project of Fayetteville won the Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

Betty Turner, executive director of Council on Aging of Northwest Arkansas, won Nonprofit Executive of the Year.

Alice Bishop, General Manager of the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville, won Business Executive of the Year.
