Uncle Jay?s Offers Wal-Mart HQ Parking

Jay Edwards believes in the old saying that in business it’s “location, location, location.” Edwards owns Uncle Jay’s Bar-be-que at 801 S. Walton Blvd. in Bentonville, next door to the headquarters of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Every week, Edwards has a drawing and gives away three of his parking spaces for the next week to employees at the Wal-Mart headquarters. The drawing is open to Wal-Mart employees who have dined at Uncle Jay’s that week.

Edwards, who is part owner of Back Porch Bar-B-Que in Fayetteville, says he tells people he has large fans set up to blow the smell of his barbecue toward the Wal-Mart HQ building.

But that’s not really true, he says. “It’s the good Lord who sends my smoke over there.”
