Wood Named Journal Editor
Jeffrey Wood of Bentonville has been named editor of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, publisher Darin Gray announced Jan. 21.
Wood, who has been an associate editor more than a year, will oversee news operations and content and coordinate editorial projects with the Journal’s sister publication, Arkansas Business.
“Jeff brings more than 10 years of journalism experience to this position,” Gray says. “He has also lived in Northwest Arkansas for the past nine years and has an extensive understanding and knowledge of our business community.”
Wood says he’s excited about this challenge.
“Our staff is wonderful to work with, and we are committed to being Northwest Arkansas’ No. 1 source of business news.”
Wood was a sports reporter and columnist at the Northeast Arkansas Tribune in Paragould from 1990 to 1991. He then spent five years at the Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville as a sports writer and columnist covering University of Arkansas athletics.
From 1996 to 1998, Wood covered UA athletic recruiting and baseball for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Fay-etteville. He has been a contributor to The Sporting News, SEC Weekly, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Magazine and The Jonesboro Sun. He is a member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and a contributing editor to Hawgs Illustrated.
A 1993 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Wood was a member of the Associated Student Government and received a bachelor of arts degree in English. He is married to the former Patricia McAllister of Bentonville, and they are expecting their first child in September.
