George’s Inc. is expanding its commercial egg operation on Russell Road in Siloam Springs. The $1.8 million expansion includes two laying houses that will operate a total of 400,000 hens just south of the company’s egg-grading and cartoning plant.

The project also includes a large addition to the plant that will create 20 new jobs. Ten new workers are needed for the hen houses.

Chairman Gary George got a loan Jan. 3 from Bank of America in Fayetteville for the construction and expansion. He got the loan on behalf of the George Children’s Trust.

The property that was purchased is at 15190 Russell Road, adjacent to the egg plant just east of Siloam Springs. George’s egg business primarily serves Arkansas and Oklahoma.
