Several construction projects are currently underway on the University of Arkansas’ campus in Fayetteville.

The main UA projects include:

• Renovation of Reynolds Razorback Stadium is the largest construction project currently underway on the UA campus. The renovation will add 23,000 seats to the current 50,000-seat stadium. Jay Huneycutt, UA associate director of contracted services, says the project is budgeted at $62 million but could cost as much as $100 million by the time it’s finished.

• The $16 million renovation of the 170,000-SF, six-story Arkansas Union building is scheduled to be completed in about a year. Renovation of the first and second floors will be contracted out. The UA’s Physical Plant will renovate the fourth and sixth floors. Work on the third and fifth floors has already been completed. Construction was completed last spring on a 40,000-SF building and walkway across Garland Avenue from the Union. • An $8.3 million, 210,000-SF intermodal transit facility was recently completed adjacent to the Arkansas Union. A bridge connects the Union to the four-story parking garage. The garage has three floors of parking (with spaces for 600 cars) and a top floor on the Garland Avenue level for transit buses.

• Construction of an $11 million, 51,300-SF, four-story Science Tower. Construction began in October 1997 and is scheduled to be completed by May. The building will house only research labs.Several construction projects are currently underway on the University of Arkansas’ campus in Fayetteville.
