Morning News Tracks Loretts Lynn, Distant Relative Of X-ray Man
The obituary page of The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas (Page 4A) has become a hiding spot lately for some of the newspaper’s more unusual staff-written stories.
On Aug. 3, the page carried a story about the grandson of a cousin of Wilhelm Konrad Roentgen, the man who invented X-rays (that’s a first cousin twice removed, as best as we can figure). It seems that this long-lost descendant lives in Rogers and, as a boy, had his feet X-rayed in an attempt to determine his shoe size (which was a regular practice years ago).
The next day, Page 4A carried a story about country music star Loretta Lynn being spotted in Gravette with a local minister in whom she has supposedly become interested.
Following up on an article in the Star, a supermarket tabloid, the Morning News reported that the singer had lunch at a local eatery with the minister.
“Loretta had a coney dog and a soda and topped off the meal with black-walnut ice cream,” the Morning News reported.
