Plans Brewing for Addition

John Gilliam, owner of Ozark Brewing Co. at 430 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville, says he’s crunching the numbers to see if he can expand the building at that location to accommodate his catering operation.

Currently, Gilliam’s catering service is operated from Ozark Baking and Catering in The Bakery Building at 313 W. Dickson St., which is owned by Greg House. Gilliam has stopped serving meals at that location, and, since it’s prime retail real estate, the rent is probably a bit high for the catering operation alone.

Gilliam hopes to expand the brewery building to the north (the rear of the building) where an employee parking lot currently exists. Before Gilliam purchased the building, it housed the Whitewater Tavern. In the 1970s, the building was home to the Swinging Door Saloon, a Dickson Street landmark known for the painting of a giant cowboy on the front that straddled the front doors with his legs.
