Webster University, a private, non-profit liberal arts college based in St. Louis, opened a Fayetteville campus in January.

The school, at 3444 N. College Ave., is in a building that previously housed Remington College, a for-profit, vocational/technical school that has no connection with Webster University.

Webster University has more than 14,000 students and more than 60 campuses worldwide. The Fayetteville campus is Webster’s fourth in Arkansas. The others are in downtown Little Rock, Little Rock Air Force Base and Fort Chaffee.

Louis “Bucky” Jones, director of the Fayetteville campus, says the school offers only master’s degrees — master of business administration and master of arts, to be exact. Three degree programs are offered on the Fayetteville campus: international business, marketing and human resources development.

“Webster University provides a traditional graduate education in a non-traditional format,” says Jones.

Jones says the school is set up to accommodate workers who want to take classes at night. Classes are held from 5:30-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The school year is divided into five nine-week terms.

Webster enrolled 32 students for its first session. Jones thinks that number will double by the time the next session begins March 15.

Jones says area executives will “bring real-world experiences to the classrooms” as instructors.

Webster University will hold an open house from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 23.
