Community Publishers Inc., owner of the Benton County Daily Record, is suing Kirkpatrick Williams & Associates for $14,058.

The suit, filed Jan. 8 in Benton County Circuit Court, claims the Rogers advertising firm is delinquent on an open account it has used for the last two years. An answer filed by defense counsel Jay F. Shell of Batesville says Kirkpatrick Williams doesn’t dispute that it advertised in the Daily Record and that “there may be some amounts still owing to the plaintiff.”

But the ad firm apparently disputes the total amount and therefore refuses to pay. Meanwhile Kirkpatrick Williams’ account with the company has been frozen.

Community Publishers’ attorney George R. Spense says the company will not comment further at this time. No court date has been set, but the case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tom Keith’s court.

Sonya Bookout, the Daily Record’s accounts receivable manager, filed the complaint.
