Morning News ignores Reynolds Center dedication

We were perplexed when we examined the Feb. 9 issue of The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas and saw that it contained no coverage of the Feb. 8 dedication of the $8 million Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Technology at the University of Arkansas.
After all, Reynolds was the founder of Donrey Media Group, the Fort Smith-based media conglomerate that owns the Morning News.
“That was my fault,” says Rusty Turner, managing editor of the Morning News. “We were sort of between assignment editors at that point. … I dropped the ball.”
The dedication was played prominently by the Morning News’ major competitors. The story was Page 1 in the Northwest Arkansas Times and Page 1B in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Northwest Arkansas edition. Color photographs accompanied the articles in both of those newspapers.
