Marty Turner is an established veterinarian who has been working in Fayetteville for about four years, and Cornerstone Animal Hospital is the culmination of his hard work and experience.

“We just decided it was time to give it a try,” Turner says about the decision to open an animal hospital of his own. He is focusing on getting new customers rather than relying on carryover business from the hospital he worked at previously.

“We’re trying to get new clients,” Turner says. “It’s been encouraging so far.” In fact, Turner says the business he’s had in the short time since he opened Cornerstone Animal Hospital has been better than he anticipated.

This is Turner’s first business and his hospital currently has one employee — a receptionist — in addition to himself. The unofficial third employee is Turner’s wife, Lisa, who helps out by handling advertising and public relations for the hospital. Both Turners are Arkansas natives.

The hospital is virtually complete and will offer several services to customers. Turner is currently in the process of acquiring an on-staff groomer, a move that should save customers extra trips around town. Also, Cornerstone Animal Hospital offers limited boarding for pets who can’t travel with their owners.

The hospital also carries some pet supplies, primarily health care products.

Turner treats most regular types of pets such as dogs and cats, but he specializes in larger animals. In fact, Turner has had several calls over his career from farmers needing help with delivery of calves and has had plenty of experience treating farm animals.
