Stockholders aren’t the only ones watching Wal-Mart Stores Inc. stock rise.

Bloomberg Personal Finance magazine picked the Bentonville-based retailer for its list of the year’s 100 hot stocks. But Wal-Mart’s 98.46 percent return as of Oct. 31 was only good enough to land it in 87th place on the list. Not surprisingly, it’s a technology stock at the top of the list: Yahoo!, with a 496.84 percent increase was No. 1.

Of course, Wal-Mart stock has continued to climb since that Oct. 31 closing price of $69.06. On Jan. 7, Wal-Mart closed at $82.63 a share, up nearly 20 percent in just over 2 months.
