Storage Freezer Gets New Owner and Name

A 222,563-SF storage freezer in Springdale was sold June 30 as part of a $158 million purchase of CarMar Freezers Inc. of Carthage, Mo., by Vornado Realty Trust of Saddlebrook, N.J.
VC Freezer Springdale LLC, a subsidiary of Vornado Realty Trust, paid $13.9 million for the Springdale facility and nine acres of land. The deed was signed by Roy E. Mayes as CEO of CarMar and Terry Brown as secretary of the company.
The facility will be renamed Americold Logistics Inc. Americold, which is based in Atlanta, also acquired two storage freezers in Russellville, one in Carthage and one in Georgia in the CarMar purchase. Americold has a combined freezer storage capacity of 480 million cubic feet in its 104 facilities, the largest of any company in the nation.
