Sam Walton’s first store in Bentonville, which now is a museum and visitors’ center, and an adjacent office building on the Bentonville square were mortgaged May 14 for $410,000.

G & S Partnership received the mortgage from the Bank of Bentonville. The loan was signed by David Glass, CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville. Burt Stacy, president of State Bank & Trust of Tulsa, is Glass’ partner in the company but didn’t sign the loan.

The two men have owned the buildings at 101 and 105 N. Main St. in Bentonville for about 20 years. The buildings were mortgaged as part of a refinancing of debt on several pieces of property.
