Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute’s new Benton County facility will be built near Arkansas Highway 102 and U.S. Highway 71.

NARTI’s board also considered another Bentonville site on property the organization already owns in the Beau Terre development in Bentonville. Eddie Bradford, NARTI’s executive director, says the board hopes to sell that property.

“I’m extremely excited” about the decision to go ahead, Bradford says. “This has been one of the most crucial decisions I’ve been a part of.”

Although the selected site is adjacent to the new Mercy Health Center, NARTI will remain a private, non-profit community organization that works with all the area hospitals, Bradford says. That’s been the the philosophy behind NARTI since its inception a dozen years ago.

Bradford says cost estimates aren’t available yet because officials don’t have final architectural drawings for the new building. He anticipates it will be around 5,000-SF on a site of at least one acre.

The satellite facility won’t reduce services already offered at the 20,000-SF Springdale facility, Bradford says. “In fact, it will enhance our ability to serve a greater number of patients.”

NARTI currently averages about 78 patients a day at Springdale. The new facility is expected to make access easier for patients from Benton County.
