An environmental consulting firm that specializes in water has opened in Northwest Arkansas. The Fayetteville office is the second in the state for FTN Associates Ltd., which is headquartered in Little Rock.

“We mostly deal with industrial clients who have had groundwater contamination problems related to past management practices,” explains Jane Spellman, a hydrogeologist who will manage the company’s Northwest Arkansas office. “We assess the damage and recommend the best way to clean up the site.”

FTN specializes in water-related environmental problems. The firm works for both industrial and governmental companies. FTN helps clients avoid losses from flooding, comply with governmental regulations and reduce environmental risks associated with industrial activities.

“The new office is a culmination of two dreams,” says Kent Thornton, principal ecologist for the firm. “When Jane Spellman told … me about her desire to move to Fayetteville, we recognized the opportunity to accomplish our goal for the growth of our company and to keep a valued employee.”

“This is a good place to be because everybody is at least aware of the issues here,” Spellman adds.
