By next Christmas, a giant, illuminated running Razorback may scamper along the roof of Bud Walton Arena on the University of Arkansas campus, if Jennings Osborne, the Little Rock businessman and Christmas light king, has his way.
Sources tell us Osborne is planning a hog that will appear to run all the way around the arena along the roof in a perpetual loop.
When contacted, Osborne said, “We were going to announce this,” referring to himself and KARK-TV, Channel 4 in Little Rock.
Osborne then issued a statement, saying: “I have many projects on the table with the University of Arkansas. This could possibly be one. Like all Christmas presents, I will keep unwrapping on this ’til Christmas.”
Jay Hunneycutt, associate director of contract services for the UA Physical Plant, says he’s unaware of the proposal, but added that it would have to go through “the chain of command” to be approved.
