Park Master Plan to be Finalized
The final draft of the master plan for Fayetteville’s high-tech research park should be finished this month, says Jim Crider of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. In addition to 1,000,000-SF of office space, the Arkansas Research and Technology Park will have a 52,000-SF for retail businesses.
Crider says 200 of the park’s 289 acres can be developed; the rest will be used for streets and beautification projects. Only 125 acres will be developed in the first phase of the project; use of the remaining acres will be determined late.
Hammer Siler George & Associates of Silver Spring, Md., is creating the master plan. After it’s approved, funding for infrastructure will be solicited from the city, state and federal governments. City officials plan to sell parcels of park land to companies for individual construction, but they hope to have one building with lease space for smaller businesses.
