Baseball Dreams

Those university people get to do the darndest things.

For David Pincus, a University of Arkansas business professor, spring means a trip to Cooperstown, N.Y., for an annual seminar on baseball and American culture, sponsored by the Baseball Hall of Fame and the State University of New York at Oneonta.

But this year, the trip was even better than usual because Pincus, who’s also a writer, saw his own screenplay performed at the Hall of Fame. “In the Best Interests of the Game” is about what’s wrong with baseball, both from a business standpoint – Pincus is a member of the College of Business Administration faculty, after all – and from a sports angle. Pincus’ co-author on the project is Carol Ohl, a former colleague of his at Cal-State Fullerton.

Pincus recently stepped down as program director for the UA’s MBA program, but he remains on staff as an adjunct professor.
