The McAlester, Okla., plant of Simmons Foods Inc. has been named “Procurement Vendor of the Year for 1996” by Friday’s Hospitality Worldwide Inc., the parent company of T.G.I. Friday’s.
The Siloam Springs-based Simmons supplies boneless, skinless chicken-breast products for the restaurant chain from its McAlester plant.
Simmons, which is among the nation’s largest privately owned poultry companies, is also marking the 45th anniversary of its Plant No. 1 in Siloam Springs. The plant actually began as Pluss Poultry, later becoming Plus Poultry after it was purchased by the Simmons family and in 1974 was renamed Simmons Industries. Four years ago, the company changed its name to Simmons Foods.
