Assets Gain 5 Percent For Fort Smith Credit Union

Fort Smith Dixie Cup Federal Credit Union saw its assets climb 5.8 percent from $10.8 million in 2003 to $11.4 million last year. The organization, which has 1,322 members, is the fourth-largest credit union by assets in the state’s six-county northwest corridor.

Ranked No. 2 in the northwest corner of the state, the University of Arkansas Federal Credit Union checked in at No. 11 in the state with $33.6 million in assets. UARK Credit Union has 10,827 members, including CEO Gina Williams.

For the Northwest Arkansas market, the 10 credit unions saw their collective assets rise about 2.7 percent from $163 million as of Dec. 31, 2003, to $167.5 million as of Dec. 31, 2004. Their combined membership was down about 1.8 percent from 40,706 to 40,631.

At 14,833 members, Arkansas Best Federal Credit Union accounts for about 36.5 percent of the area’s credit union customers, and it is the state’s fourth largest credit union by total assets.
