Steve Gibbs left his job as the main weatherman at NBC 24/51, KPOM/KFAA, on June 27. He will begin working as a registered representative with the John Taylor Division of Sterne, Agee & Leach Inc. in Rogers on July 8.

Gibbs worked for the Fayetteville television station since 24/51 began airing newscasts again in 2000 after an eight year hiatus. Before that, he spent eight years as a weatherman for KHOG/KHBS, Channels 29/40, in Fayetteville. Gibbs said he has worked in broadcasting for 26 years.

“I’ve been weighing this for two years,” Gibbs said. “I love my job … There’s no doubt about it: I’m going to miss television weather.”

Gibbs will be replaced at 24/51 in early July by Rick Katzfey, who has been working for WVLT, the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, Tenn.
