Women and Infants Center opens at Washington Regional Medical Center

The Women and Infants Center at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville opened Nov. 14.
The $60 million project added a five-story, 132,800-square-foot patient tower to the existing hospital campus, adjoining it on its west side.
The tower includes two women’s clinics, a 34-bed neonatal ICU, 17 labor and delivery rooms, Ronald McDonald House opening in December, rooms for pediatric and gynecological exams and the hospital’s second helipad.
The area for the previous women and infants center inside the hospital will be used for other hospital purposes, said Gina Maddox, a spokeswoman for Washington Regional Medical System.
The hospital operates a Level III-A neonatal ICU, caring for babies born at 26 weeks gestation or older and weighing at least 1.65 pounds.
In January, the medical system broke ground on a four-story, 66,000-square-foot building at Bob Younkin Drive and Appleby Road, across the street from the hospital campus.
The $19 million building will accommodate the following healthcare services: urgent care, family practice, internal medicine, urology, endocrinology and gynecologic oncology.
