OK Foods finalizes deal on Oklahoma City plant, to add 100 employees

OK Foods, a Fort Smith-based subsidiary of Industrias Bachoco, has acquired a fully cooked chicken product plant in Oklahoma City, the company said Monday (Feb. 22).
Beginning in August, OK Foods plans to hire an additional 100-full time employees for its new fully cooked production line.
“We are excited to add the Oklahoma City plant to our company along with our existing plants in Muldrow, Stigler, and Heavener and further expand our relationship with the Oklahoman community,” Trent Goins, OK Foods president and CEO, said in a statement. “OK Foods plans to increase the production in this facility, which will allow OK Foods to hire even more hard-working employees from the local community.”
OK Foods announced the acquisition in December 2015 and closed the deal on Feb. 16. The plant, formerly owned by American Foods Group, is capable of producing 700,000 pounds of product per week.
The company said the deal will help streamline and improve the product mix in OK Foods’ U.S. operations.
OK Foods began more than 70 years ago from a producer of livestock and poultry feed to a regional fully-integrated chicken producer. In November 2011, OK Foods was acquired by Industrias Bachoco out of Celaya, Mexico. OK Foods employs more than 3,000 workers in the U.S.
