Two new books aimed at helping decision-makers grow their businesses are out, both authored by marketing executives in Fayetteville.

Derek Champagne, CEO of The Artist Evolution, has penned a book called “Don’t Buy a Duck: Stop Wasting Money & Only Do Marketing That Works!”

The Artist Evolution is a marketing, design and practice management firm, founded by Champagne in 2007.

The 100-page book, available at Amazon.com (Kindle $7.99; hardcover $19.95) and featuring a front-cover endorsement from best-selling author Seth Godin, is for professional practice owners “wanting an edge on the competition, marketing directors who need a little help with aspects of overall marketing and entrepreneurs who are looking for someone to manage their advertising marketing,” according to a press release.

Another recent book authored locally is called “Markendising.” It’s penned by Eric Howerton and Alex Ahmad, the CEO and COO, respectively, of Fayetteville marketing agency Whytespyder Inc.

The 95-page book is also available at Amazon.com (Kindle $11.99) and discusses the “relationships between manufacturers and shoppers and the changing dynamics in interactions between the two,” according to a news release.

Howerton explains in the book that the title is a blending of the principles and techniques of marketing and merchandising.

Both books are self-published, although Champagne said he is in the process of making “Don’t Buy a Duck” available at Barnes & Noble.
