Retired Fayetteville Attorney Chip Wright Dies at 73

Retired lawyer Tilden “Chip” Wright III of Fayetteville died Feb. 27 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

Wright, a Blytheville native, graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1964, then spent four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He earned a law degree from the UA in 1971 and joined what is today known as Davis, Clark, Butt, Carithers & Taylor PLC in Fayetteville.

Wright became a named partner in the firm in 1976, and remained so until he retired in 2006, at which point his name was dropped from the company name.

The firm, generally referred to as the Davis Law Firm, issued the following statement on Wright’s passing:

“We are greatly saddened by the death of Chip Wright. Through more than a third of a century he lawyered with this firm, providing his clients sound advice and extraordinary trial representation, mentoring and training many younger lawyers into their own successful careers. He earned the respect of all of the bar and bench he dealt with for his intellect and lawyering skills. He was a credit to the legal profession and a mainstay of this firm. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

A funeral service through Nelson Berna Funeral Home of Fayetteville was held March 5 at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fayetteville.
