Northwest Technology Institute Receives $100K Investment
A Missouri auto service equipment maker has chosen Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale as its regional training facility for a 300-mile radius in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.
Hunter Engineering Co. of Bridgetown bought $100,000 worth of new equipment for the institute’s auto service and trucking technology departments and plans to use its facilities as needed for equipment demonstrations and training.
As a result of the sponsorship, the NTI board of directors recently renamed the automotive service technology lab the Hunter Regional Training Center.
New equipment in the center includes two alignment machines, a brake lathe, and tire-changing and tire-balancing machines.
For the diesel and truck technology department, Hunter Engineering provided an alignment machine, tire-changing machine and a tire-balancing machine for class-8 trucks.
NTI has 294 students enrolled this semester in day-time diploma programs, said Beck Echols, learning resources coordinator. There are 40 students in the automotive service technology program and 46 in the diesel and truck technology program.
NTI celebrated its 40th anniversary on Oct. 20.
