Real Estate Sales and Contracts Goaded by Van Asche Extension
The east-west extension of Van Asche Drive between Garland and Gregg avenues has sparked a real estate boom at Steele Crossing, the multipurpose Uptown Fayetteville area between Van Asche and East Joyce Boulevard.
Jim Irwin of Irwin Partners said the UARK Federal Credit Union recently purchased 1.27 acres for $775,000 at the northwest corner of Van Asche and Steele.
Irwin said another four parcels at Steele Crossing are under contract, including an 18-acre piece at the northeast corner of Van Asche and Steele, and a 1.9-acre tract on the southwest corner, where JJ’s Grill owner Jody Thornton looks to build a brewery.
A third site, 1.7 acres just west of Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, is also under contract, as is a 4.3-acre tract at the Van Asche cul-de-sac.
“Steele Crossing has a lot of positive things happening right now,” Irwin said, referencing the Van Asche extension and the new College Avenue flyover.
Straddling the newest, westernmost stretch of Van Asche is the 264 acres owned by the WG Land Company LTD Partnership. The partnership is represented by Tom Terminella.
The $5 million Van Asche extension includes four lanes, lighting, a median, trees, and an adjacent trail. The road was built by APAC-Central Inc. of Fayetteville. The project is part of the 2006 bond program approved by voters.
