New Startup Accelerator Geared Toward Veterans, Women, Minorities

Startup Junkie Consulting of Fayetteville has launched a business accelerator aimed toward entrepreneurs who are women, military veterans or minorities.

The event, named 2.7.0., will kick off in early September and will be funded by $50,000 in prize money from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Growth Accelerator Fund contest.

The name is representative of the fact that the accelerator will last two months, will feature seven companies, and there are “zero boundaries,” said Brett Amerine, chief operating officer of Startup Junkie.

Prize money will not be given during the accelerator. The focus will instead be on mentorship and instruction, Amerine said.

Startup Junkie also recently launched a nonprofit, Community Venture Foundation, to help fund its efforts to educate the entrepreneurial community.
