Lynxus Mobile App Offers Live-streaming, By Request

A new mobile app developed by a Fayetteville startup allows users to upload and access photos and videos from throughout the world, in real time.

Users of the Lynxus app can broadcast their surroundings for others to see; search for broadcasts throughout the world by subject or location; or request a broadcast at any given time/place.

Once a request for a broadcast at any given time/place is made, all Lynxus users (or “Lynxers”) within a certain, pre-specified distance from a location will be sent pop-up notifications and can respond with a broadcast within a certain timeframe that is specified in the request.

Lynxus chief marketing officer Stacy Tan said the mobile app is different than websites like Facebook and Twitter, because it expands the scope of content beyond friends’ lists.

Lynxus is also different from the Meerkat hot new live-streaming app because of its unique request function, Tan said.

In addition to Tan, the Lynxus team consists of Nick Spinazze, CEO, and Drew Johnson, CFO, and all three are young professionals in the retail world, by day.

The team does not have tech experience and is outsourcing its software development from Twin Engine Labs in Shreveport, Louisiana, for now.

The company started a controlled launch in Shreveport and Northwest Arkansas on March 9, and received 250 downloads in one week, Tan said.
